Christy May - Executive Director
Before coming to Miles of Smiles, Christy May was the practice administrator of a large private neurology practice and simultaneously managed the MidAmerica Neuroscience Research Foundation from October 1996 to January 2000. From there, she held a position as Director of Community Development at the University of Health Sciences (Jan. 2000 - Jan. 2002). Since January of 2002, Christy has managed the Miles of Smiles portable dental program as it evolved from a program with Northland Health Care Access, to its now independent nonprofit status as Miles of Smiles, Inc. Christy has a bachelor's degree from the University of Tulsa in Psychology and Organizational Communication and a master's degree from UMKC in Health Care Administration.

Doug Anderson - Development Director
Doug has been working with non-profits for over five years and is excited to be at Miles of Smiles! He’s ready to make an impact in the Northland and improve the health and self-esteem of children in Clay and Platte Counties. Doug and his wife reside in Gladstone, where they spend their free time volunteering, watching old movies, and playing with their dog.

Neena Patel, DDS is originally from St. Louis (Go Cardinals and Blues!) and graduated from Saint Louis University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and minor in Biology. She graduated from UMKC Dental School in May 2013 and returned to St. Louis as an associate dentist at a private practice while also serving the pediatric community in a school-based dental program. Dr. Patel moved back to Kansas City in July 2016 and is very excited to have joined Miles of Smiles to help provide oral health care to the children of Clay and Platte Counties. In her free time, she loves to travel, bake and most of all, spend time with her husband and newborn son!

Paige Heiskell, DDS moved to Liberty, Missouri from Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2007. She studied chemistry at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and went on to graduate from The School of Dentistry. Passionate about treating children during her time in school, she knew pediatrics was the right avenue upon graduation. When she isn't busy planning a wedding with her new fiance, you can usually find her on a patio trying new local cuisine. She enjoys yoga, and spending time with her English bulldog. Thankful for this great city and her new position at Miles of Smiles, she hopes to make a difference in the dental health of low income children locally.
